Libby Liburd Actor & Writer
Libby trained at East 15 Acting School on their 3 year BA Acting course, graduating in 2000. She's known for being a bold, fearless character actress with a particular flair for comedy. Her TV credits include TORCHWOOD (BBC), ST MILLIGAN'S WHARF(Pilot sitcom) and various adverts, including the TV advert where she opened a fridge with two men in it (a complex piece of acting that has received millions of hits on youtube). Libby writes and performs comedy – including the new TV Comedy pilot “Autograph Hunters”, which she co-created, wrote and starred in. She has several new comedy scripts currently in development. Libby’s theatre work is extensive and varied and includes devised work, site specific, tours and new writing – including THE GIRLS NEXT DOOR by Paul Ferguson. Libby is a seasoned panto performer, and with her tall, dramatic presence she's often cast as the powerful (but slightly deranged) baddie. Panto credits include SNOW WHITE at Dorking Halls, the urban panto FLO WHITE & THE SEVEN DAWGS and BEAUTY AND THE BEAST at the Hazlitt Theatre. About
Libby works regularly with SlapHaddock Theatre Company on their Walthamstow based site specific work in partnership with the Soho Theatre, recently playing a glamorous, beautiful movie star (perfect casting) in A NIGHT AT THE PICTURES. Libby has her own one-woman Music Hall show, performing under the moniker “Sheila Blige”. Sheila is known for her riotous innuendo and ability to stir a crowd in places they have never been stirred before. In other news, Libby is also a boxer, and has three fights under her belt in the famous East End boxing venue The Troxy, fighting for Bad Boy Promotions. She broke her thumb so is now technically retired from fighting, but still continues to train. The broken thumb has given her the opportunity to revisit her love of acrylic nails, so that's good. Libby lives in Walthamstow with her teenage son who loves her very much and spends most of his time totally in awe of her (or on the Xbox).
